Backpack to Doris Lake, July 28-30, 2017

From the Six Lakes Trailhead, we backpacked in about 2 miles to Doris Lake. Mosquitoes were bad, so we were glad to have headnets.

We had new sleeping pads that were much better than the closed cell foam ones.

On Saturday, we did a day hike and had lunch at Senoj Lake.

There were tons of these guys out this weekend!

We got to a cross-trail of the Pacific Crest Trail

Tumalo Falls Loop, July 8, 2017

We started at the Tumalo Falls trailhead and did a clockwise loop around the South Fork Trail. Occasional encounters with mountain bikers, but not once we crossed into the Bend Watershed. Mosquitoes were awful about halfway through.

The water was at least a couple of feet deep, and moving fast. The log bridge was 6-8 feet over the water. I (Bet) was really nervous about crossing this!

Shevelin Park, July 1, 2017

Shevelin Park is a Bend City park along Tumalo Creek. We hiked along the west edge of the creek, then up along a trail further west. Our first experience with mountain bikers — lots of them!

Paris, June 11-21, 2017

We went to Paris for Bet to go to the WordPress Summit and WordCamp Europe. Then we spend an additional 3 days touristing.

Va Nee did a walking tour one of Bet’s conference days, then we did two tours together: Hidden Gems of Paris (old shopping galleries) and Around Notre Dame. One of the highlights was a cheese and wine tasting (which we didn’t get any pics of!).
